How to Clean a Fingerprint Reader

It doesn’t matter how careful you are with anything, eventually, after enough use it will get dirty and it will need cleaning. This of course applies to fingerprint readers of every kind as well. But you do need to be careful when cleaning a fingerprint reader. This isn’t the same as cleaning a table or anything else like that, you need to be careful when cleaning something so delicate or you could end up doing more damage than good.

It’s always best to try and avoid a situation where you need to clean your device, where it will end up being inevitable you don’t want to have to do it every couple of weeks. To avoid this we recommend that you always have clean hands when going to use the reader, even if that means stopping off to wash your hands before using the reader. Every little precaution that you take can help save you some time down the line.

To start off with you’re going to want to stay away from tissue paper or anything that might actually scratch the surface of the reader. A cloth is always going to be your best bet and if possible, a microfiber cloth, just due to the fact that they are going to leave next to nothing on the reader itself. If you think there is a substance on the reader that might be a little harder to get off or if it feels especially oily you can always use a small amount of tape over the reader. If you do use tape to clean the reader you need to clean it as mentioned before to make sure any sticky substances from the tape are gone.
